In order to breed pigs in Farmville, you must first have a fully constructed pig pen. You can have a pig pen on both your home farm and on the English Countryside. Once fully upgraded, your pen will allow you to hold up to 40 pigs, and it will have 3 breeding chambers. Once your pig pen is ready, you must place at least one boar (adult male pig) and one sow (adult female pig) into it to breed piglets. Now highlight the boar and select breed, then highlight the sow and select breed to bring up the following:
An important factor in pig breeding is determining the # of potions you want to dedicate to breeding. The number of potions will determine how quickly the pigs will get it on and what the likelihood of succes will be. You can see the chart below:
Once your pigs have completed doing the nasty, you may now have a piglet to take care of. Your options are to keep the piglet or to give it away to your friends. The sex is determined by random.
Should you decide to keep the piglet, you will need to place it on your farm & use 10 Bottles to raise it. You will get the chance to ask for bottles when you place the piglet:
You can raise it quickly by clicking on the piglet and selecting feed bottles (or pay FV by clicking complete now :S ).
If you have enough bottles, it will automatically feed them all to the piglet until completed. You will also get the links to share bottles with your friends half way through and when complete.
Once raised, your piglet will most likely be a variation of the parents colours and patterns. Pig breeding is a rather random process, since each colour a parent possesses has a certain colour range that could apply to the piglets, so you never really know exactly what you are going to get. The only thing you can ever be certain of is that it will express traits of BOTH the boar and the sow that were the parents, other pigs in the pen have NO affect whatsoever.
